The Onion Overview and Review

In 2003, New Regency Productions and Fox Searchlights pictures were on board to produce and release a movie written by The Onion Staff. Tentatively titled The Untitled Onion Movie, it was to be directed by music video director Tom Kuntz and Mike Maguire and written by then Onion editor Robert Siegel and writer Todd Hanson with the rest of the Onion staff. After delays and previews to test audiences, the film was shelved and eventually dropped by Fox. New Regency Productions continued on with project.

In November 2007, then-President Sean Mills told  that the movie was a dead project. Although Fox Searchlight had an option to release it on DVD, there was no immediate announcement of plans to do so. Eventually, the trailer appeared on the DVD for The Darjeeling Limited.

The Onion Movie is a comedy film written by The Onion writters Robert D. Siegel and Todd Hanson along with the Chicago-based writting staff of the paper. It was filmed in 2003 and realeased on June 3, 2008 .

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery Overview and Review

The Austin Powers series can be labeled as one of the most funniest and successful movie series in my opinion and i guess i can say it for many others, Michael Myers is a genius in his own class and his ability to portray several characters throughout the series, Austin, Dr Evil, The fat Bastard. Now this will be and overview of International Man of Mystery which was filmed back in 97.

it begins with Austin Powers who is a 60s spy who is cryonically frozen and released in the 90s. The world is a very different place for Powers. Unfortunately for Austin, everyone is no longer sex  mad. Although he may be in a different decade, his mission is still the same. He has teamed up Vanessa Kensington played by the wonderful Elizabeth Hurley to stop Dr Evil, who was also frozen in the past. Dr Evil stole a nuclear weapon and is demanding a payment of, when he realizes its the 90s, 100 billion dollars. Can Austin stop this madman?.

My honest opinion of this movie is shagedellic baby!, This is one of Mik Myer's classic movies. Mike also plays in Wayne's work as well as playing Dr evil in this one, Liz Hurley's who played the amazing devil in bedazzled is excellent as Vanessa, and Seth Green who played in Rat race is funny as hell playing Scott who all make this comedy even more funny. There is no way if anyone watches this movie, they will not laugh and the series gets funnier by each movie. For whoever is reading this and hasn't seen the movie. YOU WILL LAUGH YOUR HEAD OFF!!!

Family Guy - Something Something Darkside

As with Blue Harvest, this one follows the plot of the film closely, with a few minor detours for the sake of comedy. All of the Family Guy characters reprise their roles in the Star Wars universe, with Stewie as Darth Vader, Peter as Han Solo, Chris as Luke and Lois as Princess Leia. A few other recurring characters and gags from the series show up as well, like Ernie the Giant Chicken as Boba Fett. Due to the lack of female characters, poor Meg is relegated once again to the role of a creature, this time the space slug the Millennium Falcon lands inside after evading Hoth's asteroid belt.

The movie has some funny bits, but it suffers from the same problems that was in Blue Harvest. People have been parodying Star Wars for more than 30 years, so most of the material is used before and therefore dry. The writer, Kirker Butler does have some new observations, though. Like the fact that there are infinite directions they could head when fleeing Hoth, but the rebels head right for the Imperial fleet, or the creepy detail that Lando was wearing Han's clothes at the end of the film. They even recycle some of the jokes from the first Star Wars parody, like some playful shots at Seth Green, who once again points out (as Chris Griffin) that Robot Chicken has done it already.

Family Guy has always taken a rapid fire approach to making gags– it just keeps firing jokes non-stop, and misses just as often as it hits. Something, Something is no different. There are random references that most people won't understand.

7.5/10, though an improvement on the first movie, something something darkside is still not the Star Wars parody fans are expecting of Seth Mcfarlans hugely successful family guy.

Family Guy - Blue Harvest

The Star Wars-inspired "Blue Harvest" waseasily the most anticipated Family Guy episode of all time. The hour-long special tribute episode is something both fans and non-fans have been eagerly waiting for ever since it was announced. With this kind of hype, it's hard for any single episode of a television program to live up to expectations, and "Blue Harvest" ultimately does fall victim to its own hype. It's good, but it's not nearly as good as it could have been.
The biggest problems with using Star Wars as your reference for an extended flashback is that we've already seen hundreds of segments of Star Wars-inspired humor over the last 30 years. We know what scenes are easy targets for jokes, and thankfully the writer, Alec Sulkin, does manage to make the most of the ripe targets and even show some comic brilliance on several occasions. Unfortunately, these moments are too few for an hour-long show, and a large portion of this episode ends up feeling like a scene-for-scene animated retelling of A New Hope, as opposed to a unique Family Guy take. Also, the choice of using the creepy old child-molesting Herbert as Obi-Wan never really feels right. Sure, it's part of the offensive style of humor we come to expect from the show, but even after multiple viewings, Herbert's creepy mannerisms never seem to inject any actual humor other than the uneasiness of watching him onscreen.

7/10, Good but not Fantastic.

Robin Hood: Men in Tights Overview and Review

The standard story of Robin Hood: Evil Prince John is oppressing the people while good King Richard is away on the Crusades. Robin steals from the tax collectors, wins an archery contest, defeats the Sheriff, and rescues Maid Marian. In this version, however, Mel Brooks adds his own personal touch, parodying traditional adventure films, romance films, and the whole idea of men running around the woods in tights.

Mel Brooks has done an excellent job with Robin Hood: Men in Tights. I have seen the original Robin Hood movies as well, but I never had such a good time when watching them as I had with this one. It's just one continuation of hilarious moments and parodies on famous people and movies (Winston Churchil, The Godfather...).

I recommend everyone who wants to have a good laugh to watch this movie. To those who think Robin Hood shouldn't be messed with, you're wrong, but you better don't watch it because you'll probably be offended by it. I give this movie an 8/10.

Kung Fu Hustle- Overview and Review

When the villains of Kung Fu Hustle introduce themselves with a swishy line dance, you know you’re in for something special. No it’s not the latest Baz Luhrman musical; it’s the new Hong Kong film from actor/writer/director Stephen Chow.

What a fantastic movie. I loved it and the entire theater laughed until they cried. Amazingly directed, Hilariously funny, it blends a 1930s gangster stylishness into a Hong Kong kung fu movie to astonishing results. Who would’ve thought you could top Shaolin Soccer? Not me, until I saw this movie. Stephen Chow pulled it off. Chow’s comedic timing gets better and better with every movie he makes, and while his films are depending more and more on CGI these days, and makes this movie much more a fantasy kung fu film than a traditional one, it hardly detracts from the enjoyable experience. Make it your mission to see this film—it will be one of the most entertaining you ever see. I can’t remember the last film I enjoyed myself in more. My eyes still hurt from wiping away tears of laughter. Seriously.Goodness me, what a fantastic movie.

Favourite spoof filmmakers- David Zucker

David Zucker is one of Hollywood's most successful filmmakers, with such smash comic hits as Airplane! Ruthless People, and the Naked Gun series to his credit. Starting out after college with a few borrowed video tape decks and an old film camera, David convinced brother Jerry and family friend Jim Abrahams to join him in creating the Kentucky Fried Theater in the back of a bookstore in Madison, Wisconsin. Moving to Los Angeles in 1972, their success continued with a new show, presenting their unique, satirical blend of videotaped, filmed, and live sketches. In five years, they became the most successful small theater group in Los Angeles history. In 1977, the team collaborated on their first feature film, the aptly titled Kentucky Fried Movie. Essentially an extension of the live Kentucky Fried experience, the movie, written and produced by, and co-starring the ZAZ team, became a hit independent release which remains a cult classic to this day.

But it was the next project, which created a whole new film genre. Conceived by David as a comedy without comediansAirplane! featured dramatic actors like Robert Stack and Peter Graves performing zany dialogue with straight-laced sincerity. The spoof became the surprise hit of 1980, positioning ZAZ as kingpins of Hollywood comedy. They broke into TV with the Emmy-nominated Police Squad! which, in a weekly half-hour format, did for the detective drama what Airplane! did for its genre. Their streak of successful movies continued with the secret agent spoof Top Secret! starring Val Kilmer, and the biting farce of Ruthless People, with Bette Midler and Danny DeVito, which became one of the top-grossing films of the year. In 1988, David Zucker ventured on to his first film as solo director. The Naked Gun, based on Police Squad! with Leslie Nielsen reprising his role of Lt. Frank Drebin, was a runaway hit. The 1991 follow-up, Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear, surpassed the original at the box office. The final installment, Naked Gun 33 1/3, produced by David, was also another box-office hit. Branching out into drama, Zucker co-produced, with partner Gil Netter, A Walk in the Clouds, starring Keanu Reeves, and the thriller, Phone Booth, starring Colin Farrell and Katie Holmes. Most recently, David directed Ashton Kutcher, Tara Reid, Terence Stamp and Molly Shannon in My Boss's Daughter.

Johnny English Reborn Overview and Review

Attention all Rowan Atkinson Fans!

Johnny English Reborn, the sequel to the amazing Johnny English Film, Rowan Atkinson is back!! Eight years after the events of the first film, Johnny is learning martial arts in Tibet as punishment for an earlier failed mission in Mozambique which is discussed throughout the film and constantly paralyzes johnny. The story progresses in Hong Kong where English discovers an address that leads him to an ex CIA agent, Titus Fisher. Fisher reveals that he is a member of a group of deadly assassins called Vortex. who apparently sabotaged English's Mission in Mozambique. Fisher reveals a secret weapon that requires 3 metal keys in order to operate it, however before English can interrogate him further Fisher is killed by an anonymous assassin dressed up as an old cleaning lady. bet you didn't expect that. Further throughout the film English is taken in my M17's behavioural psychologist, Kate Sumner who prompts English to recall the events of his mission in Mozambique and try to identify the second Vortex operative, Karlenko, a Russian Spy. She explains to English that Karlenko possess the second key. a golf match between Karlenko and English leads to multiple laughter moments with Rowan smirking as he lectures Tucker his assistant agent about which clubs to use and how to hold it, with the next frame showing English Flogging the golf ball into an unsuspecting civilian with Rowan's signature facial expression of "wooops". My final thoughts about this film are all positive, i thoroughly enjoyed both the first film and sequel, and couldn't stop laughing, There was never a dull moment throughout the movie and that justifies Rowan's acting ability and producing ability. The master is at it again!, this movie deserves a 5/5 in my books and to anyone who hasn't yet seen it....... GO SEE IT!!

What You'll Expect To See Here!

Hello everyone! and welcome to our Awesome blog all about Movie Parodies. Let us give you a low down on what you'll expect to see here!. This blog will be dedicated to reviewing Movie Parodies and expressing our thoughts and opinions. as well as promoting any future movie parodies that will hit the big screens soon

Scary Movie Overview and Review

Scary Movie is a series of movie that parody horror films and makes them hilarious so that a wider range of viewers can enjoy these horror films without being scared. Though scary movie parodies these films, they don't really explain much about them leaving the viewers to sometimes not get the reference if they have not seen the film. The sexual innuendos and jokes made throughout the parody makes it a mature film for those over 15 years of age but that is not a problem since all horror films are usually mature or R-rated. If you have not seen any of these movies or have only started in the middle of them, don't worry, the plot for each movie is sepearate and not a sequel or prequel to each other. Only some recurring and main characters are in each of movies and the parodies are always different to fit in with the changing times of horror films. Overall, scary movie 1-4 is one of the funniest movie parodies I have seen to date and would definitely recommend it to all fans of comedy anywhere. 4.5/5 stars.
